MDA Summer Camp provides thousands of kids with muscular dystrophy and related muscle-debilitating diseases "the best week of the year." At MDA Summer Camp, kids are living beyond limits in a place where anything is possible. It's a week where they’re free to enjoy adventures like horseback riding, swimming and fishing, develop lifelong friendships, and build self-confidence and independence.
Hannah volunteered for several summers as a camp counselor, as a way to spend time with kids who have various forms of muscular dystrophy. The work of the MDA is really personal for the Pileggi family, as Hannah’s dad has a form of muscular dystrophy.
Founded in early 2015, Sporting Code is a social initiative that is making waves by connecting South African communities and developing the youth through sport. Through educational trips, coaching clinics, tournaments and leagues, this sports development project looks to use sport to nurture our future leaders, connect and unite communities, reduce social ills, and create a healthier, happier society.
In December 2016, Hannah and Ryan traveled to Cape Town, South Africa and participated in an Airbnb experience with Sporting Code's founders, Ayanda (back right) and Buntu (front left). Running through the township of Khayelitsha and playing basketball with local children proved to be the single most memorable highlight in a life-changing trip. Please consider supporting our Capetonian friends as they attempt to build a brand new sports complex on a currently derelict sports field and make a significant positive contribution to the lives of thousands of children in the community.
